    Description

    Your Opportunity:

    Reporting to the Unit Managers of the Level 3 Post Anesthesia Care Unit, Acute Pain Services, Adult Pre-Admission Clinic, Adult Cardiovascular Pre Admission Clinic and Short Stay Surgery, the primary role of the Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) is to ensure the delivery of quality patient care and excellence in nursing practice by enhancing and supporting staff development, orientation, education and evaluation of practice in the clinical area. The successful candidate will facilitate delivery of patient care through providing expertise, support and direction in the clinical practice activities within the Short Stay Surgery and Pre-Admission Clinics. The successful candidate will offer support to the Post Anesthetic Care Unit, Acute Pain Services, and Level 3 OR CNE team as required. The CNE plays a key role in orientating new staff to the respective units including, learning related to Connect Care and various Specialized Clinical Competencies. The CNE is responsible for participating in Quality Improvement initiatives and will play a key role in process improvement, hand hygiene improvement, and facilitating CPR/ACE module training. The requirement to support other CNE related duties such as participating in direct patient care, supporting staff and learners in the clinical area or other tasks identified and required by Unit Managers or the PCM is expected. As a key leadership position, the CNE is expected to function as a role model for nursing and other staff in accordance with the Level 3 OR mission statement and AHS philosophy, mission and values.

    Description:

    As an Instructor, you will be an expert practitioner and key educator. You will take a leadership role in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of education for nursing staff including orientation, compulsory and continuing education, and clinical development. You will collaborate with management and internal partners to promote standards of clinical, educational and evidence informed practice. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

    Required Qualifications:

    Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

    Additional Required Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications:

    Previous CNE experience considered an asset. OR experience an asset.PowerPoint/Microsoft Office/Excel considered an asset. Active PANANAC membership is preferred. Recognized national certification in Peri Anesthesia PANC(c) considered an asset.
