The Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation (ACFN), Dene Lands and Resource Management (DLRM) department is seeking to fill one (1) full-time, permanent position of
Finance Clerk.
Monday to Friday, 7.5-hour days, and 37.5 hours per week. However, schedule and work location may change from time to time to meet operational requirements.
General Responsibilities
- Provides financial and administrative support to the Lands and Rights department, as well as general ACFN DLRM financial transactions.
- Assists the team with industry, government contracts and agreements.
- Provide timely responses to internal and external parties as needed to ensure completion of work.
- Creates purchase requisitions and purchase orders as needed.
- Processes vendors' invoices, ensuring that the transaction is entered and approved, payment is made on time, and that the costs are recorded accurately in the ACFN DLRM's accounting system.
- Reconciles vendor statements.
- Ensures all vendor records, which are used in accounts payable and purchasing transactions, are current and accurate.
- Prepares or assists with analysis and reconciliation of various accounts as required, specifically: accounts payable transactions, general ledger transactions, bank account and credit cards.
- Inputs, updates and stores financial data, utilizing both electronic and physical file management.
- Produces a variety of correspondence, documents, spreadsheets and reports for accountingrelated purposes.
- Ensures compliance with applicable Accounting Standards, Alberta Employment Standards, and Canada Revenue Agency legislation.
- Ensure the strict confidentiality and privacy of financial records as they relate to the ACFN, DLRM and business partners.
- Other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications and Education
- High School Diploma or GED or an acceptable combination of education (Grade Ten), training, and two years of experience in finance or accounting may be considered.
- A postsecondary certificate in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration, is an asset.
- A minimum of Two (2) years of direct experience in an Accounts Payable, is an asset.
- Experience in MS Word / Excel / Outlook.
- Class 5 Driver's License is an asset.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member.
- Microsoft, Google, and other computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Google Docs, Zoom).
- Willingness and ability to travel; and is condition of employment.
- Willingness to sign a Confidentiality Agreement.
- Salary will be dependent on experience and qualifications._
