The team provides exceptional, patient-centered care in a collaborative and integrated manner.An inter-disciplinary team of neurologists, nurses, pharmacists, social workers, neuropsychologists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, neuropsychiatrists, physiatrists, and administrative staff support our Centre.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting directly to the Clinical Leader/Manager, the Clerical Assistant will be responsible for performing a broad range of administrative, secretarial, word processing and business support services for the MS Clinic.
- Providing administrative and secretarial support to the Clinical Leader/Manager as well as other members of the patient care team;
- Scheduling patient procedures as well as outpatient followups using stateoftheart computer software;
- Liaising with various hospital departments such as payroll, purchasing, etc. to exchange information and to resolve issues;
- Utilizing computer equipment and various software packages, i.e. word processing, spreadsheets, graphics, etc. to generate a variety of correspondence, reports and documentation;
- Operating multiline telephones, greeting and receiving visitors (patients, families, etc.) and responding to inquiries including patient safety concerns and taking appropriate corrective action;
- Transcribing and processing physician orders in a timely and efficient manner;
- Collecting clinic statistics including nursing workload measurement;
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate of a recognized Medical Administration program or equivalent experience.
- Medical terminology certificate required.
- Current clinic experience for specialty services preferred;
- Ability to work in a fastpaced and demanding clinic environment;
- Communicates clearly and fluently in English; demonstrated oral English language skills to communicate with patients and team members with the ability to operate multiline telephones, respond to inquiries and redirect calls as appropriate.

- Presents a calm and pleasant demeanor at all times, uses good judgment and discretion, and works well under pressure;
