Department Description:
Steamfitter:
- Victoria Hospital
Reporting to the Coordinator Facilities Engineering, the steamfitter is responsible for the safe and adequate distribution of the steam and other process piping systems.
Rate of Pay:
$31.27/hour - $31.86/hour
Hours of Work:37.5 hours per week
Qualifications:
- Current Provincial or Interprovincial Steamfitter's Certificate of Qualification
- Certificate of Qualification for Gas fitter II preferred
- Minimum 4 years mechanical and/or industrial steamfitting experience, preferably within an institutional environment
- Demonstrated ability to maintain sterilizers and other pressure vessels
- Demonstrated experience with installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of steam and process piping systems and equipment
- Demonstrated ability to install, maintain and repair heating distribution systems and equipment such as, steam traps, expansion joints, PRV's, converters, heat exchangers condensate receivers and pumps
- Demonstrated a working knowledge of control systems and Building Automation Systems
- Proficient at welding and soldering
- Ability to work in confined spaces such as pits and tunnels
- Familiar with Pressure Vessels Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, current Asbestos and Confined Space regulations, WHMIS
- Demonstrated ability to maintain a current awareness of technological advances and be familiar with drawings and specifications
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills and the ability to interact positively and effectively with patients, public and staff
- Selfstarter, conscientious, motivated with a willingness to learn, and take on additional responsibilities
- Demonstrated strong problem solving & troubleshooting skills
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC

- Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis

Immunizations Requirements:
- Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella(Chicken Pox), Hepatitis B, Tetanus/Diptheria/Polio; Meningitis.
- Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis Skin testing (two step) and a completed COVID vaccine series.
