    Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario, 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, the Rainy River Mine is an open pit, gold and silver producing, residential mine site.

    The Rainy River Mine, located adjacent to the Ontario / Minnesota border is 65 Kilometers northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario and is situated half way between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose, black bear and deer.     Applicants who reside in Northwestern Ontario and have experience working in a cross-cultural environment, coupled with knowledge of the unique challenges and opportunities presented to those living in the Northwest Ontario, are assets.     Position Reports To: Senior Geologist

    Position Overview

    The role of the temporary Geological Labourer is to support the Geology team with various tasks which includes/but not limited to sampling, preparation work, RC drilling, field work, and diamond drilling. Ensure all activities are carried out in conformance with New Gold's policies and procedures including cultural, safety and environmental. This is a temporary 3-month contract with the potential to be carried on to full time.

    Key Responsibilities

  • Blast hole sampling.
  • data entry
  • delivery of samples to assay lab
  • painting of stakes for grade control marking
  • placement of stakes on broken rock for dig area definition
  • Assay lab prep area work as required.
  • RC Drill sample collection
  • Variety of other geology related tasks
  • Qualifications

  • Working in dusty and noisy environment
  • Proper sampling techniques
  • Repetitive lifting
  • Proper sample labeling
  • Barron site core movement and other general labour activities as required.
  • Shiftwork days and night rotations, working outside and variable weather environ
