JOB SUMMARY:


Parking Enforcement & Logistics is responsible for the Parking Enforcement Program (On-Street, Off-Street, Private Parking), Business Licensing operations, Smoke-free Ontario regulations, and overseeing special events branch-wide.


You are responsible for the enforcement of the city's traffic and parking by-laws to assist in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the city's Parking Enforcement Program while maintaining a high standard of customer service.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Completion of Grade 12

Completion of community college diploma in Law and Security or Police Foundations programs is desirable

Minimum of 1 year of experience in the enforcement of statutory offences or in a related enforcement field of work and in a customer service environment


CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES:

Valid Ontario unrestricted G class driver's licence (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerit points accumulated


KNOWLEDGE:


  • Demonstrated knowledge of municipal traffic and parking bylaws and Part II of the Provincial Offences Act.
  • Customer service techniques and alternative dispute resolution techniques.
  • The geography of the city and roadways
  • Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers
  • Completion of health and safety training is an asset

  • Work under stressful conditions and deal with people in difficult situations
  • Prepare concise reports
  • Meet deadlines and juggle priorities

  • Ability to work both in a team environment and independently
  • Meet the physical demands of patrol and shift work regardless of weather conditions

  • Language Requirement: Various language requirements required. Some positions require English oral, reading, and writing. Some positions require French oral, reading and writing.
  • You will initially be paid 95% of your starting rate of pay, in accordance with the collective agreement.
