Working under the supervision of the Principal Investigator, the Data Analyst will work on a project in the area of non-dyadic caregiving relationships and the extent to which they may be associated with health service use, using a large population-based survey dataset.
The Data Analyst will be responsible for data management, analysis, as well as assisting with the preparation of findings (publications, reports, academic presentations).
Duties
Data Management and Preparation (25%)
- Clean data by checking for missing responses, recoding where necessary, and similar tasks
- Work with team to create a recoding plan for specific variables and implement the plan
- Link data with other sources using available identifiers
- Manage data files by creating and maintaining an electronic filing system
- Create and update documentation of all data management activities and directory of data files
- Assist in creating a data analysis plan
- Perform statistical analysis tasks including basic descriptive and multivariable regression analyses as outlined in the data analysis plan
- Create data visualization materials (generating tables, graphs, charts) for manuscripts and presentations
- Create and maintain documentation of all decisions related to the analyses including a directory of coding files
- Clearly communicate results verbally and in writing (e.g., data analysis reports)
- Contribute to writing statistical content for manuscripts and conference abstracts
- Establish and maintain good communication and working relationships with project team
- Participate in project meetings
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in biostatistics, epidemiology, health services research, or a related field. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered Demonstrated experience using a variety of statistical software (e.g., SAS, SPSS) and in advances multivariable modelling techniques
- Experience creating and refining graphs and figures from data
- Familiar with data security and related issues
- Strong competencies in MS Office software
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated abilities as a team player
- Detailoriented with strong problemfinding, resolution, and documentation skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Expertise using SAS is a definite asset
- Master's degree preferred
- Experience analyzing populationbased survey datasets and use of survey weights is an asset (e.g. Canadian Community Health Survey)
