The main purpose of this position

Our Leadership Team focuses on supporting the Agency's oath, core values, and culture, as well as accountability, dedication to ensuring quality services, providing supportive supervision, and working through the lenses of trauma-informed, diversity, equity and inclusion, housing-first, harm reduction and safety principles.


Specifically, supportive supervision is based on mutual respect, strength-based, commitment to ongoing learning, self-awareness, integrity, effective communication, trusting relationships/transparency, autonomy with accountability, and personal growth.

Responsible for the Community Outreach's quality program delivery, supporting program development, staff supervision, and maintaining organizational alignment.


Responsibilities

  • Internal Supervision Role_
  • Responsible for maintaining support staff including recruitment, hiring, coaching, mentorship, regular supervision, scheduling, team building, and succession planning
  • Promote and role model the Agency's brand promise
  • Through a strengthbased coaching, development of staff capacity around agency core values and core competencies (traumainformed, harm reduction, crisis navigation, peer support, health & safety, etc.)
  • Debrief, mediate, and support complex situations (including staffing concerns, client concerns)
  • Responding to crisis/incidents, including thorough followup and prevention recommendations
  • Provide direct supports on behalf of or alongside your team when required ex. backup/coverage)
  • Supporting the alignment services with internal programs to better support client needs
  • Participate in Manager On-Call schedule rotation, with compensation through vacation time for shifts
  • Coach staff to ensure accountability over programs and services standards
  • Accountable to perform regular audits to ensures support services standards (ex. timely and appropriate input of date, regular facetoface client visits, etc.), adherence to budget guidelines, staff service performance (ex. shadow visits) are aligned with agency values/policies and procedures.
  • Active participation on the Service Pathways team or designate to ensure:
  • Internal flow, and warm transitions from program to program, and intake to outtake are supported
  • Facilitate team meetings and relevant committees
  • Knowledge of PHIPA and supporting staff in privacy/confidentiality
  • External Supervision Role_
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with partner agencies to support ease and flow of services
  • Aligning services with external agencies to better support client needs, including advocacy
  • Active participation on committees and planning tables relevant to your portfolio
  • Professional Development_
  • Building relationships with Supervisors in similar programs
  • Ensure all staff receive adequate opportunity to explore professional development opportunities that align with job roles and areas of interest.
  • Pursue training and skills development that are meaningful to manager and supportive of SH Strategic plan and agency culture.
  • Ensure staff professional development with focus on contingency planning.
  • Stay current on professional discipline code of conduct and ethics for those you supervise and the college you may be aligned with. (ex. Guiding Standards of Peer Support, OCSWSSW)
  • Active participation in relevant trainings and learning opportunities
  • Participate in regular supervision, annual reviews and debriefs with supervisor and team
  • Participate in relevant Communities of Practice
  • Personal Development_
  • Partner with your Manager to ensure the times are established throughout the year that time is booked off to disconnect from work to focus on wellness and selfcare goals
  • Regularly reflecting and participating upon relevant personal wellness strategies
  • Be open and share any workrelated needs to the appropriate staff, for the purpose of accommodation, support, and clarity
  • Participate in regularly scheduled breaks and other wellness activities to maintain your work and practice.
  • Proactively participate in your personal wellness having our own supports and maintaining your wellness
  • Specific duties related to Supervisor, Community Outreach_
  • Work closely alongside other Supervisor, Community Outreach to ensure staff capacity and service alignment
  • Other relevant duties as required in discussion with your manager

Knowledge and skills necessary to be successful in this role

  • Postsecondary education in the social services field coupled with relevant experience in communitybased mental health services and/or substance use
