Description

Responsibilities

  • Spend time at a grain terminal assisting with facility operations including, truck unloading, rail car shipping and grain cleaning;
  • Understand Quality Control factors and how they relate to binning and shipping procedures;
  • Work closely with Marketing Manager in commodity contracting, customer relations and understanding competitive programs in the area;
  • Support the Logistics Coordinator in organizing farm deliveries with required shipments;
  • Assist administration with customer service and processing of grain purchases, contracts and general reports required;
  • Understand the ISO 22000 food safety program as it relates to customers and operations;
  • Learn and understand safety requirement for operational procedures;
  • Analyze market conditions and other economic factors in order to maintain and grow our position in the market place;
  • Negotiate and agree on terms of commodity purchase/sale contracts, such as price, quality, quantity, transportation, timing and payment;
  • Coordinate transportation and logistics to execute commodity contracts;
  • Provide timely and effective communication and interaction with other teams such as sales, transportation and logistics, quality assurance, plant personnel, engineers, and accountants.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree from the Faculty of Agriculture at U of M;
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and decision making skills;
  • Demonstrated oral, written communication skills; strong persuasion and negotiation skills;
  • Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment;
  • Motivated and driven to succeed;
  • Adaptable, flexible and able to work in a fastpaced environment.
