Responsibilities:
Community Engagement:
- Cultivate relationships with local artists, art organizations, educational institutions, and community stakeholders to foster collaboration and participation in gallery activities.
- Develop outreach initiatives to engage across communities and promote accessibility to the gallery.
- Organize community events, and art programming to enhance community involvement and appreciation for the arts.
Operations Management:
- Oversee daytoday gallery operations including scheduling, volunteerstaffing, and maintenance.
- Coordinate exhibition installations, deinstallations, and art handling logistics.
- Ensure compliance with safety and security protocols for artworks and visitors.
- Manage inventory, procurement, and budgeting for gallery supplies and materials.
Curation:
- Develop and curate a diverse range of exhibitions that reflect the interests and cultural identity of the Jewish community.
- Collaborate with artists, curators, and community organizations to organize exhibitions, artist talks, workshops, and other related events.
- Manage exhibition schedules and coordinate promotional efforts to attract a broad audience.
Marketing and Promotion:
- Create promotional materials such as press releases, posters, and digital content to increase visibility and attendance.
Administrative Duties:
- Manage gallery documentation, including contracts, artist agreements, loan agreements, and exhibition records.
- Handle administrative tasks such as invoicing and financial reporting in coordination with the finance department.
- Provide regular reports on gallery activities, attendance, and financial performance to the JCC management team.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Art History, Arts Administration, Fine Arts, or related field.
- Strong understanding of contemporary art trends and practices.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated success with budgeting & resources management.
- Grant acquisition experience.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the arts.
- Experience in the non profit sector is preferred.
Compensation:
$27-$30/hourly. 20 hours per week.
