Controls Systems Specialist
Full-Time Opportunity, Fort St John, BC

Our client specializes in Control System Integration and Automation. They offer Control System Design, Manufacturing, and System Integration services concentrating on Industrial Automation, Communication, and Power Systems.

They offer their customers a line of standard and custom built control panels to suit Energy, Manufacturing, Process, Agriculture, Medical, Material Handling, and Food & Beverage Industries.

Do you want to be part of a winning team? This fast growing company is currently looking to hire a Controls Systems Specialist who is experienced in the Oil & Gas industry.

They are looking to fill full-time positions based out of Fort St John.


As the Controls Systems Specialist, you will be responsible for:

  • Troubleshooting, upgrading, migrating and or installation of SCADA, PLC and HMI Hardware for projects related to general maintenance or new construction facilities, including logic design and network configuration.
  • Application of PLC logic and related automation networks.
  • Provide ongoing maintenance support for clients and handson development for construction based projects.
  • Prepare devices and I/O list as well as construction support and commissioning assistance.

Qualifications Required:


  • Journeyman Instrument Mechanic/Electrician with extensive Automation experience.
  • 510 years of experience with Delta V and/or Allen Bradley Controls Systems. Previous experience with VTScada, Rockwell Automation, Emerson Automation, Industrial Networks, and SCADA would be a strong asset.
  • Postsecondary diploma in either Instrument Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Automated System Engineering Technology or a Degree in Electrical Engineering (EIT or P.Eng) is an asset.
  • Valid Drivers license.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, building positive and strong relationships with staff and clients.
  • Ability to mentor junior colleagues.
  • Familiarity with IT SCADA architectural standards.
  • Highly proficient in Windows XP, Windows 7 and Windows Server
  • Demonstrated organizational and documentation skills.
  • Exceptional trouble shooting and problem solving skills.
  • An analytical thinking with logical thought process.
