Program Worker for seniors - Transportation Coordinator

Education and Experience:
Experience with the older adult population, group leadership skills, acceptable driving record

Education in Seniors Care, Therapeutic Recreation, Activity Aid, Gerontology, or equivalent

Valid First Aid Certificate, Food Safe Certificate; Class 4 Driver's License (or the ability to be trained and obtain class 4 Driver's License within the first 3 months)

Responsible to:
Executive Director


Duties:

Transportation Coordination

  • Coordinates, schedules and documents transportation and attendance of clients
  • Liaisons with HandyDart to coordinate the client's HandyDart rides to Centre, provide feedback and maintain a strong relationship.
- provides orientation and training to volunteer drivers or staff on ASK's buses

  • Liaison with other organizations to market bus rental and coordinate bus rental bookings
- oversees volunteers associated with provision of transportation


  • Driving/Buses Responsibilities
- completes inspection of ASK buses before use & completes driving log
- ensures bi-annual safety inspections are completed by designated third party
- identifies issues or maintenance needs of buses and informs Executive Director
- responsible for driving on assigned outings and designated participant rides


  • Therapeutic Groups
- responsible for leadership of activity programs at Centre
- regularly evaluates groups and implements changes as necessary

  • Creates and facilitates new programs based on clients' needs and abilities
  • Client Care & Charting
- responsible for duties related to client care including assisting with toileting, transferring and self-care
- maintains ongoing relationship with assigned clients and caregivers
- maintains up to date records on assigned clients including care plan and program plan


  • Safety Warden
- conducts regular fire and earthquake drills with staff and volunteers

  • Informs new staff and volunteers of fire and earthquake procedures
  • Ensures emergency supplies are up to date
  • Other Related Duties
- staff coverage of other program staff and cook as assigned
- responsible for daily announcements to clients re: daily activities
- serving and cleaning up lunch service and socializing with participants on daily basis
- completes other related program duties as required


Salary:
$22.00-$24.00 per hour

Ability to commute/relocate:
