    The Opportunity

    We are hiring an ambitious and forward-thinking rail access planning SME to join our established and growing team in Canada.

    Project: The Rail Access Planning SME is responsible for providing strategic guidance that leads to integrated rail access plans and optimised rail access processes - driving for maximum access efficiency and safety.

    Your Responsibilities Will Include:

    • Providing strategic access planning guidance and support based on industry best practice, knowledge and lessons learned.
    • Identifying access plan constraints and developing strategies to alleviate.
    • Supporting all parties to plan, book and utilise appropriate access aligned to associated work activity with maximum efficiency.
    • Assessing and determining need for change to access planning processes and methods and implementing changes to deliver improved performance.
    • Supporting with deconfliction analysis and implementation.
    • Supporting with improving visibility of planned and booked works.
    • Supporting with access specific negotiations.
    • Supporting access innovation – aiming to achieve cost reduction and improving safety.
    • Providing expertise to maximise the available working windows.
    • Supporting with the use and optimisation of the Rail access planning tool.
    • Assisting with adherence to access process, procedure and standards.
    • Communicating and demonstrating planning best practice.
    • Managing rail corridor access, possession, interface and deconfliction.
    • Supporting the 'OnCorr' preferred bidder management process.
    • Establishing the key strategy 'scope elements and resourcing requirements' - aligned to integrating and supporting the team.
    • Development of the methodology for the creation of the Integrated Program Delivery Team (IPDT).
    • Developing the IPDT delivery strategy - which links directly to the established client purpose, vision and goals.
    • Creating a collaborative working culture between capital works and operations teams, driving continuous improvement.
    • Developing a single integrated schedule and budget baseline - aligning the 'Early Works' and 'OnCorr' schedules.
    • Seeking improvements to the existing governance structure to support better decision making and change management.
    • Communicating to the service definition team.

    About You

    You have experience as a professional rail planner within the industry. You have extensive knowledge and understanding of access issues in a railway environment. You have good knowledge and understanding of contractual issues in an access environment. You have extensive awareness of safety issues in an operational railway environment.

    You have extensive knowledge of access improvement initiatives and an understanding of how to drive these through to bring the desired benefits. You have experience planning complex, multidisciplinary construction works within operational corridors.

    You have experience leading rail access staff. You have experience of rail access booking systems. You are able to understand various rules and regulations that dictate strategic access.
