Summary:


_**The primary responsibilities of this position are to source new parts, find and qualify new suppliers, negotiate prices and terms and conditions, coordinate and manage all aspects of supply chain activities for a new product launch.


_ Main responsibilities:

_


  • Work with engineering teams to understand product requirements and corresponding manufacturing options for component sourcing
  • Identify and evaluate new potential suppliers of different manufacturing processes including forgings, castings (permanent mold, die cast, thixotropic, sand cast), injection moldings, extrusions, and machined parts
  • Prepare RFQ's and seek quotes from current or new suppliers, review quotes, negotiate price, incoterm, delivery, tooling cost, leadtimes, payment terms and other applicable commercial terms and conditions
  • Select suppliers or make supplier selection suggestions based on supplier's quality, cost and delivery capabilities
  • Review, analyze quotes, and make total cost comparison and evaluation. Work closely with product launch teams to support make vs buy decisions for machined components and assemblies
  • Manage sourcing activities and changes throughout new product development and launch stages, participation in product launch meetings, manage and report on supplier or supply readiness to meet product launch schedule
  • Issue and manage tooling PO, monitor tooling construction progress, and ensure ontime completion and approval of tools
  • Initiate, track, and manage Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) submission requirements, ensure timely completion
  • Analyze and calculate product component costs, and review quotes against similar manufacturing methods, processes and market trends
  • Monitor and track product cost on excel BOM throughout early product development stages in an effort to manage and control product cost
  • Monitor raw materials to minimize increases of materials costs
  • Maintain a good working relationship with suppliers and internal departments
  • Ensure compliance to the Dometic and SCMP code of Ethics
  • Complete other job duties and assignments as required

Requirements:


_ Qualifications and experience:

_


  • Degree or certificate in business, supply chain management, engineering, project management or a related discipline
  • Minimum years of experience at a senior level of purchasing or strategic sourcing in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with sourcing mission critical mechanical components (bearings, shafts, motors, rotors, etc) for rotating equipment highly desired
  • Experience with identifying and selecting new suppliers for low to mid volume large sized mechanical parts made from various processes such as forging, casting, extrusion, precision machining etc from North America and aboard
  • Experience with supporting and conducting make versus buy decisions for multiple manufacturing processes
  • Experience in working with product launch teams that include multiple departments and stakeholders
  • Able to read and understand multilayer BOM
  • Good knowledge and or prior sourcing / purchasing history of one or more of the commodities / categories including but not limited to
:


  • Experience with sourcing rotating equipment such as impellors, turbomachinery, rotors, motors, bearings, shafts, etc
  • Mechanical parts including various types of castings, forgings, injection moldings, stampings, formed parts, precision machined parts, etc
  • Electronics / electrical products such as PCBA's, wire cable's, motors, sensor assemblies, controllers, etc
  • Hardware such as fasteners, fittings, seals, etc.
  • Proficiency / intermediate level of MS Word, MS Project, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Good knowledge of supplier quality and understanding of sourcing requirements for mission critical components
  • Project Management knowledge and skills are desired
