Reporting to the Social Enterprise Production Manager, the Pre-Construction Worker and Youth Mentor is responsible for working alongside Youth trainees associated with the pre-construction project.

The Pre-Construction Worker and Youth Mentor will ensure all projects are completed in adherence with the plans and specifications provided by Michael + Clark Construction.


The Pre-Construction Worker and Youth Mentor is responsible for ensuring work is conducted in compliance with all health and safety regulations by ensuring youth are adhering to the health and safety protocols on the worksite.

Training of youth is paramount, and the Pre-Construction Worker and Youth Mentor assists in the mentoring of skills to Youth Trainees including youth skills development programming with specific emphasis on youth employment training and job attainment in a dynamic team environment.


This position will work closely with the Pre-Construction Coordinator and Youth Mentor to ensure all staff are working in line with YOU's Mission, Vision and Values.

As part of Enterprise Services, this role works closely with Employment and Housing staff, Team leaders and other individuals to best coordinate a wrap-around approach to services to achieve successful outcomes for youth.


JOB SPECIFICATIONS


The incumbent must have superior relationship and time management skills, customer service, attention to details and be comfortable with a variety of people.

The incumbent must demonstrate friendliness, creativity, and flexibility in dealing with youth participants and YOU staff.

Additionally, the following qualifications are expected:

Must possess a valid Ontario drivers license (G) and provide a clean driving abstract:

  • Able to lift 50lbs
  • 12 years related work experience
  • Able to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Recommended Education: High school or equivalent
  • Safe handling and knowledge of hand tools and related equipment
  • Mechanically inclined, with the ability to read blueprints and other aspects pertaining to the job.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage, coach, mentor and support youth participants and staff
  • Demonstrated professional work habits, encourage staff to act with integrity and recognize this trait in others
  • Experience with training youth to complete work and side duties to staff in accordance with departmental procedures.
  • Strong communication skills including communicating additions or changes to the assignments as they arise throughout the shift.
  • Experience participating preshift meetings and reviewing all information pertinent to the day's business.
  • Ability to adhere to all Youth Opportunities Unlimited Guidelines, Policies, Rules and Regulations.
  • Demonstrated compliance with all governmental and regulatory requirements ensuring safe tool and environmental handling practices

$18.69-$19.62 per hour
