JOB DESCRIPTION


The Facilities Manager is directly responsible for maintaining and ensuring the cleanliness of the Salvation Army Nanaimo New Hope Center.

The incumbent will be responsible for preserving the good condition of infrastructure through facilities that are safe and well-functioning. The Facilities Manger will oversee all capital assets of the Nanaimo New Hope Center.


BASIC FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Directly supervises cleaning and maintenance staff daily.
  • Responsible for standards, policies, and procedures for the department including emergency and evacuation planning.
  • Inspects, maintains, and tests emergency systems directly or through contracted services in accordance with established policies, procedures, regulations, municipal codes and maintains appropriate records of test results.
  • Monitors the use and maintenance of equipment; ensures that regular monitoring activities are implemented and documented for all department services.
  • Plans and coordinates installations and refurbishments.
  • Manages the upkeep of equipment and supplies to meet health and safety standards.
  • Prepares and implements routine and preventive maintenance schedules for facility equipment; plans capital equipment replacement budget.
  • Administers and operates within the approved budget for financial control and ensures optimum utilization of resources.
  • Purchases supplies and equipment and ensures inventory control.
  • Develops and participates in inservice, training, and orientation programs for emergency response, WHMIS, and others as required to ensure the safety and security of the clients, visitors, and staff.
  • Prepares and maintains reports, statistical information, and departmental records as required by facility policies and procedure, and Ministry of Health, and government legislation.
  • Participates in negotiations for final approval for all contracted services.
  • Performs direct environmental services when required.
  • Performs other workrelated duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education requirements:


Education, Qualifications and Certifications:


  • Completion of a formal postsecondary/college program of two academic years in a related field.
  • Relevant professional qualification (e.g., CFM) will be an advantage.

Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements

  • Three years of prior related supervisory experience and experience working in a, longterm care/hostel or other relevant experience, experience setting up events, and management of aggressive behavior.
  • Proven experience as facilities manager or relevant position.
  • Experience installing/working with technical equipment.
  • Note: Equivalent qualifications will be considered.




HOURS:
20hrs/week

  • Wellversed in technical/engineering operations and facilities management best practices.
  • Knowledge of basic finance principles.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
  • Good analytical/critical thinking.
  • Background check consent.
  • A clear vulnerable sector screening.
  • A clean drivers abstract.
  • Completion of our online Armatus Abuse Training and required Health and Safety training.

Job Type:
Part-time

Part-time hours: 20 per week


Salary:
$20.46-$25.57 per hour
