About OWMA

The Ontario Waste Management Association (OWMA), founded in 1977, is the voice of the waste, recycling and resource recovery sector in Ontario.

It is a consistent and reliable source of information and solutions for government; and a leader in driving ethical, accountable, competitive, safe, and professional services to the public that support the shift towards a circular economy and ensure the protection of our environment.

OWMA members have diverse interests and capital investments in areas such as waste and recycling collection, landfills, transfer stations, material recycling facilities, organics processing and composting and hazardous waste (recycling and disposal).


Position Overview
Prior Association experience is preferred, knowledge of the waste management sector is an asset but is not a requirement.


The Manager is responsible for several core functions, but not limited to:
Leading development and execution of OWMA's government relations strategy. This involves managing relationships with key government stakeholders, identifying engagement opportunities to support the development and growth of strong relationships with key decision makers and influencers in and outside of government and to promote OWMA's positions;
Leads government relations initiatives and activities, liaising with stakeholders to identify strategic priorities and developing and presenting strategies to address issues and enhance relationships with government representatives;
Support and coordinate internal volunteer committees and action plans;
Develop a cohesive strategy for research and data collection and analysis to advance evidence-based sector positions;
Prepares briefs, position papers and messaging for website and social media, ensuring members are kept apprised of developments and issues;

The Manager will also support the CEO and membership in strengthening relationships with like minded businesses, organizations and public sector agencies in Ontario.

This is a full-time position offering a competitive combination of salary and benefits.

The Association offers some flexibility in working environment with interesting and challenging opportunities in the policy development and stakeholder relations field, as well as involvement, as a team member, in the wide variety of activities of a small, dynamic office group.

The office location is in Etobicoke, Ontario and the position requires some flexibility in working hours, travel inside Ontario.


Salary:
$80,000.00-$95,000.00 per year
