Position Summary:

The CNC Brake Press Operator's job is to operate brake press machines to shape various types of metal.

In this role, you read blueprints for a project, set up your machine, perform regular maintenance, inspect metal while shaping it, and adjust as needed.

The Brake Press Operator prepares, sets up, and adjusts press brake as required by product plans and production schedules.

Press brake operators check the final products to ensure they are free of defects, and ensure work areas are clean and organized.


Reports to:


  • The Brake Press Operator reports directly to the Shop Supervisor

Responsibilities:


  • Establish and operate press brakes under mínimal supervision to form products as per engineering drawings and parameters.
  • Program your machine to fit the design.
  • Setup and operate a press brake to manufacture components from sheet metal or plate to meet custom requirements of the client.
  • Produce parts by forming various size, thicknesses, and types of material.
  • Perform loading and unloading of material by changing tools and select required machine programs.
  • Inspect and maintain press braking operative equipment for conformance with safety requirements.
  • Inspects all manufactured parts following work in process inspection methods and ensure to accomplish engineering specifications.
  • Perform routine maintenance on the machine. Resolve quality as well as mechanical problems and repair minor issues along with equipment adjustments as required.
  • All other duties and projects as assigned by management.

Skills, Abilities, and other Qualifications:


  • 2+ years working experience as a CNC Brake Press Operator
  • High school diploma or GED certificate
  • Blueprint reading and experience with measurement tools essential.
  • Experience in sheet metal and plate forming.
  • Experience in a custom fabrication environment.
  • Problem Solving and Troubleshooting CNC Machinery
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Mechanical skills
  • Attention to detail.
  • Analytical skills
  • Physical stamina with ability to lift up to 50 lbs; long period of standing and walking.
  • Math skills to measure materials.
  • Ability to maintain and repair machines in a timesensitive environment.

Nice to Have:


  • Previous experience with custom manufactured parts/projects

Other Requirements (Non-Negotiables):


  • Areas with active press brakes can be loud, so operators must wear personal protective equipment to minimize risks.
