Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Pharmacy Technician to join our team.
As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting the pharmacy team and ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of medications to patients.
This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with a passion for patient care and a desire to work in a hospital setting.
Responsibilities:
- Assists with receiving written prescriptions for Pharmacists and retrieves filled prescriptions. Processes register transactions and receives payments while providing prompt and courteous patient services.
- Obtains patients medical history and maintains confidential record keeping while assisting the pharmacist in entering patient and prescription information.
- Practice within federal/provincial, regulatory/legal requirements, provincial Code of Ethics, and follows model standards for Canadian pharmacy technicians.
- Practice, and Policies, demonstrating professional integrity and acting to uphold a high level of professional standard of practice.
- Ensure all privacy requirements are met, including customer confidentiality and consent management.
- Fill prescriptions, counting medication into the appropriate container, labeling and pricing prescriptions under the Pharmacist's supervision.
- Ensure accuracy and appropriateness of all prescriptions dispensed.
- Alert pharmacists to drug interactions in prescription and over the counter medication.
- Maintain all records required in accordance with legislation, standards of practice, and policy, i.e. customer records, narcotic and controlled drug records
- Verify prescriptions and refills with physicians by phone
- Prepare third party insurance claims, process invoices and make accounting entries into the computerized system.
- Order, receive, tag and stock prescription drugs, supplies and over the counter products. Follow all product storage requirements, standards and merchandising plan. Ensure cleanliness of the department.
- Promote Pharmacy campaigns, programs and services as appropriate.
Experience:
- Completed Pharmacy Technician certificate and the Pharmacy Examination Board of Canada Qualifying exam
- Valid Pharmacy Technician license in the Province of Manitoba
- Familiarity with medical terminology and medication administration
