Interior Design


Position Summary:


The successful applicants will possess a passion for their craft supplemented by the ability to share their knowledge, follow a set curriculum, and inspire our students to be the best they can be in their chosen field of study.


Reporting to the Interior Design Program Director, the incumbent will successfully contribute to the success of the interior design department.


Essential duties and responsibilities:

Faculty positions are predicated on three contributing areas: instruction design and delivery), administrative duties or service to the college, and professional development.


Instruction (Design and Delivery)

  • Facilitate student learning, provide effective instruction, and feedback, and perform evaluations of student learning for all assigned classes, using each course's standard course outline as a guide and adhering to a learningcentered approach.
  • Deliver learningcentered instruction by establishing a classroom environment conducive to learning and student involvement as well as effectively planning and preparing for classes and student success.
  • Manage the learning environment through accurate records keeping (e.g. attendance, grades), submitting grades and other reports on time, and enforcing school/campus academic and attendance policies.
  • Relate professional/life/industry experience to learning by the continuation of professional/technical skills development, the introduction of industry perspective into courses, and the active awareness of professional/industry trends and opportunities
  • Design and deliver course instruction through the development of effective and engaging instructional plans to meet course outcomes, development of interactive and meaningful activities that scaffold learning, and delivery the instruction as approved.
  • Develop course curriculum, course handouts, lectures, labs, studios, and presentations that spark curiosity, engagement, and inquiry for the learners.
  • Work with other faculty and administrators in developing program curriculum, standards, and policies, including reviewing and participating in textbook selection process where appropriate.
  • Schedule, supervise, debrief, and evaluate students in clinical, internship, observation, field experience, and similar work integrated learning settings as appropriate for the course or program.
  • Take and submit attendance for every class, assign grades and maintain course/student records in accordance with LCV regulations and submit grades and records by established deadlines.
  • Teach all scheduled classes and other scheduled responsibilities such as office hours and meetings at the designated times. A faculty member should inform the supervisor if he or she is unable to meet a class on time or needs to reschedule.
  • Promote student success by showing flexibility in style and work schedule as well as exhibiting a passion for teaching and students and engaging students in the learning process.
  • Keep a flexible weekly schedule that best facilitates student learning and access. Any changes in the scheduled class times or locations should have prior approval by the program director.
