Working closely with the Director, Student Programs and Legal Recruitment, the incumbent will support the operational objectives of the summer and articling student programs.


Major Responsibilities

  • Advising and executing on all aspects of the administrative requirements of summer and articling student onboarding and orientation programs
  • Advising on the logistics of the summer and articling student rotation program (coordinating with all relevant administrative departments, office planning, mentor assignments, etc.)
  • Administering performance evaluations for summer and articling students, using viEval and identifying issues and discrepancies which may impact hireback of students
  • Interacting with the Law Society of Ontario regarding licensing process requirements, registrations and filings
  • Under the supervision of the Director, Student Programs and Legal Recruitment, liaising with clients participating in our clientsecondment program and overseeing daytoday logistics of same
  • Drafting and finalizing offer letters and secondment agreements, taking into consideration Firm precedents, policies and procedures to ensure accuracy and national consistency
  • Supporting the student allocation and hireback process and interacting with partners to determine needs of specific departmental groups
  • Maintaining up to date protocols and identifying recommendations for process improvements
  • Providing special events and project support as needed

Position Requirements

  • Education and Experience_
  • Postsecondary education in Human Resources or a related discipline plus a minimum of 3 years' relevant experience in a professional environment
  • Experience in a law firm or professional services industry would be an asset, and large law firm experience is preferred
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be acceptable
  • Completion of CHRP/CHRL designation would be an asset
  • Knowledge and Skills_
  • Impeccable organizational skills, time management skills and ability to multitask
  • Indisputable teamplayer with sense of humour
  • Selfstarter who is proactive, takes initiative and works independently with mínimal supervision
  • Excellent communication skills and customerservice attitude
  • Positive, professional disposition and flexibility to handle regular interruptions and unexpected changes to work flow
  • Demonstrates tact and respect for confidential material
  • Advanced computer skills and proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, OslerNet, viEval and viRecruit
  • Comfortable overseeing and maintaining the Firm's social media account for student recruitment purposes
