Reporting to the Supervisor, Children & Youth Services, the Junior Camp Counsellor is responsible for implementing Summer Camp Programs.


REQUIREMENTS

  • This position may be funded by Canada Summer Jobs
  • As per Canada Summer Jobs, these are mandatory requirements
  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period;
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment; and,
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participate in camp training & agency orientation.
  • Support the direction and instruction provided by Camp Leaders and Camp Coordinator.
  • Actively ensure camp programs are organized and implemented.
  • Provide positive guidance to camp volunteers.
  • Maintain a clean & safe workplace and environment.
  • Maintain positive & professional relationships with peers, children & community members.
  • Other duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of working with children & youth.
  • Able to multitask.
  • Ability to accept supervision and seek counsel.
  • Dependable, punctual and flexible.
  • Second language an asset.
  • Must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment.
  • Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment.
  • Must have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
  • Currently enrolled or recently completed a diploma, degree and/or other certificate in a postsecondary institution.
  • Must be qualified to work in Canada legally for the employer.
  • Able to provide a Vulnerable Sector Screening check with a 'Clear' or satisfactory result that meets the operational requirements of the Agency.
  • Must have uptodate vaccinations against COVID19 with a vaccine that has been approved for use in Canada.
