Hitachi energy is seeking an Category Manager GES for its Raleigh, NC location.

This role is responsible for assessing local and international markets and will develop and implement category strategies for all the Grid Edge Solutions in USA and Canada.

The major focus will be on developing a strong supplier base, while ensuring best cost and quality, on-time delivery, and material availability for the businesses.

The Hitachi Energy battery energy storage portfolio is a scalable energy storage solution that is designed to ensure reliable power availability, grid stability, highest possible penetration of renewable energy for both grid-connected and off-grid systems (microgrids).


Responsibilities:


  • Work with Tendering Team to develop solution leveraging multiple suppliers. Negotiation times, terms, prices to created competitive bids.
  • Implements effective sourcing strategies in line with business strategy ensuring that the supply base/suppliers have the capability and capacity to meet current and future business requirements. Ensures all relevant parties understand strategies and execute processes accordingly.
  • Accountable for managing critical supplier agreements including new sources within given commodities, contract renewals, negotiation of terms, and defined performance metrics.
  • Negotiate highlevel complex contracts while delivering worldclass results.
  • Collaborates with Project Managers to ensure alignment and execution of commodity strategy.
  • Manages planning and tracking of procurement activities, cost budgets, emerging country spending and savings forecasts.
  • Support the study of outsource opportunities
  • Meet regularly with critical suppliers for discussion on performance, planning, pricing, and future development activities.
  • Ensures identification, investigation, and selection of appropriate suppliers (focusing on quality, delivery, cost and sustainability) in accordance with Company policies. Defines and establishes local standard agreements with all major suppliers. Provides and maintains standard terms in purchase contracts/terms and conditions in line with Company directives and guidelines.

Your background

  • Relevant experience in procurement of industrial and capital good.
  • Familiarity of electrical and structural equipment (electrical panels, ehouse, site work contracts, buildings, power transformers, cooling systems, capacitors, electrical switchgear, insulators, steel, etc.) supply market. Adequate technical knowledge about electrical equipment to work effectively with engineers and suppliers.
  • Willingness to travel domestically, as needed 25% and more
  • Proficiency in English, written and spoken alike.
  • Desirable knowledge of SAP and procurement tools such as Project Procure
  • Must have excellent analytical capabilities to analyze category & businessrelevant supply markets.
  • Extensive experience working with highvolume and/or highcomplexity components (electrical and machined) preferred.
