Planner I, Detail Planning - North Vancouver, Canada - Tundra Launchpad
Description
The essential function of the Planner I position is to understand ship design, overall build strategy, shipbuilding process, planning/scheduling process, production bill of material (PBOM) planning and material management.
Duties/Accountabilities
A Planner I in Detail Planning responsible for detail plan creation, budget, labour resources, work instructions, material integration and other detail planning assignments.
The role is also responsible for liaising with sub-contractors and production supervision to ensure that the plan is executable with regards to sequence of work, budget at a shop order level and correct resources assigned.
This is an entry level position which requires a self-starter with aptitude and willingness to learn:- Knowledge of:
- Blue print reading.
- Basic ship build strategy concepts.
- Manufacturing processes and techniques.
- Stage of construction breakdown and philosophy.
- Project management.
- Planning/Scheduling processes.
- Resource planning processes.
- Earned Value Management System.
- MRP system.
- Manufacturing and planning standards.
- Skills in:
- Development of production plans and schedules.
- Development of manufacturing schedules in a project management software.
- Budget allocation.
- Creation and maintenance of the PBOM.
- Correction of technical conflicts between Engineering, Materials, and Production.
- Management of the deposition of material to production.
Education and Experience
- A bachelor's degree in a technical field of study is preferred. Trades Certificate combined with sufficient employment experience may be considered. High School diploma is the minimum requirement.
- 1 to 3 years' experience in ship design, manufacturing or related trade experience.

- PC proficiency required. Working knowledge of basic Microsoft Office 2010 software suite (Project, Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).
