About the Organization

The Atlantic Research Center (ARC) is affiliated with the Departments of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology and Pediatrics, Dalhousie University. The ARC is a large lab shared by 4 principle investigators that carry out research programs with a focus on lipid metabolism, cell signalling and cancer.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Principal Investigator, the Research Technician will provide technical support on a CIHRfunded research project that aims to identify mechanisms for fat synthesis and storage in the nucleus of mammalian cells.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct experiments using fundamental biochemical techniques including SDS-PAGE, immunoblotting, lipid separation, and mammalian cell culture
Image cells using light and immunofluorescence fluorescent microscopy.
Conduct radioisotope analysis of lipid synthesis.
Maintain lab records and inventories.
Oversee lab biosafety and radioisotope licenses.

Note
Due to operational requirements, the successful applicant is required to work in-person on campus.

Required Qualifications

Assets

Prior practical and/or theoretical experience in lipid metabolism and analysis.
Familiarly with confocal microscopy and image analysis software (Imaris, ImageJ, Fuji).
