DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Oversee the Development, Implementation, Review and Maintenance of the SQF System and GMP's
  • Oversee the Document Control System (includes maintaining, distributing and updating records, files and documents)
  • Oversee the Food Safety Plan
  • Conduct regular walkthroughs of the plant to identify Quality / Food-Safety related issues
  • Develop and facilitate trainings on Quality / Food Safety Programs for Managers and Employees for SQF and QA Compliance
  • Lead the Quality Management System to ensure that products and processes achieve GFSI Certification and comply with Food Safety Regulations / Standards
  • Assist in preparing and participating in External Company Audits, Regulatory and Certification Audits and responding formally to findings
  • Communicate SQF System nonconformances, trends and compliance information to Managers and Supervisors, providing instruction or recommendation on action to be taken
  • Aid in Supplier Approval Process (documentation requirements)
  • Oversee Pest Control Program
  • Complete Sanitation Inspections and provide feedback to operators
  • Become familiar, research and stay up to date on Canadian/US Food Regulations as they are pertinent to the company and its products
  • Provide expert advice to management and customers for technical product, labeling and food quality / food safety matters
  • Aid customers with documentation requests
  • Act as Recall Coordinator in case of Finished Product Withdrawal or Recall (mock or actual)
  • Manage the quality team by leading, coaching, mentoring and developing of Quality staff in their performance of testing/inspecting/auditing to monitor production processes and finished product quality
  • Manage and continuously improve Quality Department and Programs
  • Establish and update analytical testing procedures for the lab and perform routine testing and verifications when needed.

  • Direct process standardization efforts to optimize our manufacturing processes and define QA policies.
Monitor and/or verify production processes to ensure the manufacturing procedures are followed, which include:
Process temperatures, solids, moisture, flow rates, protein analysis, raw material variances.

  • Conduct training with employees to transfer knowledge of their requirements for QA compliance
  • Lead the quality management system to ensure that our products and processes achieve quality certifications and comply with food safety regulations.
  • Lead the development and implementation of new SOPs that support continuous improvement and organization growth, to ensure continued adherence to quality standards such as GMP and HACCP.
  • Manage and prepare for all qualityrelated internal and external audits. Respond to nonconformities identified in internal and external audits, customer complaints and to corrective / preventive actions assigned to Quality Assurance.
  • Oversee shelf life testing and taste panels for sensory evaluation on finished products
  • Become familiar, research and stay up to date on Canadian/US Food Regulations as they are pertinent to the company and its products
