Position Summary


Functioning primarily as a senior member of the Principal Investigator's team within the Neuron to Brain Research Program, enabling multi-institutional and multinational collaborations and projects, the Program Manager is a key member of the scientific and operational team who brings expertise in program development, building and managing project teams, and overseeing and planning the Neuron to brain research program's budget.

The Program Manager is accountable for the planning and implementation of new Neuron to Brain research programs, the ongoing management of the overall program, and provides key support to the Principal investigator and Scientific Associates as well representing the external liaison with funding agencies and other stakeholders and collaborators across national and international sites.

The Program Manager will also be responsible for the human resources assigned to the program including Scientific Associates, Research Assistants and Technicians, Analysts, students, and other personal as well as, managing the interaction with other services/divisions/departments


Duties

  • Support PI in developing strategic thinking and program initiatives.
  • Support the PI by compiling, analyzing and synthesizing information as preparation for external meetings, conferences, etc.
  • Provide mentoring/coaching and evaluation support for new and existing staff in the Neuron to Brain research program and Provides recommendations for process and procedure design and system enhancements based on lab goals/parameters
  • Implements and develops grant funded programs and projects.
  • Determines/establishes timelines and schedules
  • Develops and forecasts lab resource requirements, including financial, capital and human resources.
  • Develops processes, procedures and system standards specific to the lab including identifying and drafting new and/or revised policy and procedural changes.
  • Reviews the work of the different lab teams and provides updates and recommendations to move implementation forward.
  • Responsible for all of the human resources activities assigned to the program including Scientific Associates, Research Assistants and Technologist, analysts and students, as well as, managing the interaction with other services/divisions/departments
  • Develop and implement lab retreats, annual research days and workshops
  • Manage the neuron to brain lab's finances such as education, communication, technology acquisition and human resource planning.
  • Responsible for Neuron to brain lab's budget performance and projects.
  • Works with PI to develop multiinstitutional research program budgets and opportunities for funding.
  • Provide expertise in project design and setting of goals
  • Plan data collection and analysis phases, oversee data management and analysis and Ensure data verification, collection and quality control
  • Train staff on specific methodologies and quality
  • Coauthor papers and present at conferences/seminars
  • Provides expertise to the neuron to brain research program as needed on specific area of expertise e.g. patients records, research ethics, data collection principals
  • Performs crossfunctional and/or other duties consistent with the job classification, as assigned or requested.

Qualifications

  • At minimum, completion of a masters degree in Health Science or recognized equivalent required.
  • At minimum Over 4 years up to and including 6 years practical and related experience.
  • Five years in a program management/development role required.
  • Two years experience supervising and mentoring staff required.
  • Experience in research program outcome analysis required.
