The Respiratory Therapist provides therapeutic diagnostic technical and teaching respiratory therapy services consistent with discipline and professional standards while adhering to the employer's mission values and management philosophy.
Qualifications Skills
- At least one year previous related experience preferred Experience in the management of neonatal and pediatric critical care preferred Entry-to-practice academic credential in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited Canadian program or a MARRT approved equivalent if internationally educated is required Child and Women's Health Program certification in NRP is required Certification in PALS is preferred Current registration with the MARRT required Current registration/membership in the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists CSRT is preferred Certified in Basic Cardiac Life Support and Neonatal Resuscitation Program NRP Certification Pediatric Advanced Life Support PALS preferred Preference will be given to those applicants competent in an Indigenous language and/or knowledge in Indigenous customs traditions values Knowledge of critical care ventilators including High Frequency devices including but not limited to VN500 Avea JET 3100 A B required Knowledge of home ventilatory assistive devices such as Trilogy ventilators NPPV devices preferred Ability to establish maintain good interpersonal relationships Must have effective written verbal communication skills Must able work cooperatively other disciplines demonstrate professional judgment initiative Knowledge physiological social cultural economic aspects patient care Ability organize complete assignments minimum supervision Willingness adapt new concepts techniques best practice academic clinical fields health care Must experience computers office productivity email software Demonstrate good critical thinking skills Manual dexterity visual acuity are required Ability stand walk perform manual ventilation prolonged periods Ability run emergencies Ability lift heavy medical equipment measuring devices monitors D E size gas cylinders weighing up to15 pounds/6.8 kg Ability push wheeled medical equipment May occasionally work extended hours May require variety shifts nights weekends May exposed infectious diseases blood body fluids radiation toxic materials noise allergens physical emotional stress etc May encounter aggressive agitated clients/staff/visitors We unique ability together make healthcare better want make difference contribute supporting health family friends neighbours apply today Interested candidates select Apply icon below upload cover letter resume copy licenses/certification This position requires current satisfactory Criminal Records Check Vulnerable Sector Search Child Abuse Registry Check Adult Abuse Registry Check conditions employment Successful candidate responsible service charges incurred employee permitted hold two more positions Shared Health combine equal more than1 FTE Shared Health values supports employment equity workplace diversity encourages all qualified individuals apply thank all applicants selected interview contacted Welcome applications people disabilities Accommodations available request assessment selection process Manitoba healthcare employers partnership Indigenous community committed increasing representation Indigenous People workforce Indigenous applicants encouraged apply voluntarily self-identify being Indigenous descent cover letter/application>
