We are looking for an experienced
Project Manager II (Senior Project Manager) to support our
Information Services at our
Mount Sinai Hospital Campus.


The Project Manager II (Senior Project Manager) is responsible for managing medium to large size projects to successful completion following standard project discipline principles and processes.

The Project Manager II
is expected to attain a detailed understanding of the project and the desired project objectives and utilize all aspects of the project lifecycle including the initiation, planning, controlling, execution and closing.

The Project Manager II is responsible for managing the people resources (information technology, clinicians and business personnel) for assigned projects


Responsibilities:


  • Work with internal customers and external partners as required to clearly define and document key project parameters including objectives, outcomes, scope and budget
  • Define project management structures and processes for the project
  • Ensures project scope and deliverables for the project team are understood and approved by clinical and business communities
  • Ensures that project benefits are identified during initiation phase and that processes are developed during the project lifecycle to measure achieved benefits
  • Ensures new policies and procedures created (through project implementations) are approved, published and implemented successfully
  • Ensures that peers within the Information Services Department and service providers are kept abreast of projects that will impact their areas and resources
  • Create and execute project work plans and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements
  • Publishes regular updates to project team, sponsor and stakeholders (clinical & business) identifying project risks and issues
  • Provide status reports to the project team, sponsor and stakeholders (clinical & business) as appropriate
  • Ensures project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately
  • Prepare and participate in delivery of presentations to sponsors; stakeholders, committees and advisory groups
  • Actively contribute to the development of the Project Management Office
  • Manage daytoday operational aspects of projects and scope including project logs, issues, action items, risks, queries and change management and escalation processes
  • Work with internal customer(s) to support the development of a business case for each initiative
  • Work with internal customer(s) to define and plan project team resource requirements and assign individual responsibilities
  • Contribute to the development and evaluation of RFPs


  • Job Requirements

  • University Degree in health science, health informatics, business or computing sciences
  • 510 years of project management experience and/or health care project management experience leading medium to large size projects
  • Project Management Institute certification (PMP) is an asset with proven experience successfully employing standard project management tools, methodologies and frameworks
  • Applicants with proven equivalent recent and related training and experience may also be considered
  • Experience leading clinical projects such as Electronic Medical Record/Electronic Health Records, Electronic Clinical Documentation and Computerized Physician Order Entry and implementing information technology clinical systems in Perioperative, Critical Care and Oncology areas are assets
  • Skilled in managing medium to large sized projects producing project deliverables by following standard project management processes and disciplines (project charters, project plans, project budgets, test strategies and implementation plans)
  • Knowledge of clinical processes and experience in health care environment is required
  • Sound knowledge of Inpatient and Outpatient systems and processes required
  • Detailed knowledge of business systems and processes
  • The ability to lead project teams and foster cooperation and communications amongst team members
  • Good relationship management skills and is able to work collaboratively with internal team members and sponsors, external suppliers and business partners
  • Develop capital and operating budgets and manage projects to approved budgets
  • Experience with clinical and business workflow and process redesign
  • Able to plan and facilitate enduser design workshops
