The Quality & Environmental Manager will report to the Senior Manager of Corporate Admin.
Job Overview
The Quality & Environmental Manager oversees overall supervision of the Quality department associates and ensures accountability of their responsibilities.
The role is best suited for an individual that is a team player along with a positive attitude and is quick to learn.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Overall supervision of the Quality and Environmental department.
- Responsible for the development, implementation, compliance monitoring, and maintenance of the quality management and environmental system(s).
- Establish and maintain rapport / relations with the team along with adherence to proper disciplinary action when required.
- Manage internal and external audit activity as a corporate function.
- Arrange for internal auditor selection, arrange training for internal auditors, visualize trends for internal audit inputs to prioritize internal audit focus / theme.
- Conduct internal audits and layered process audits and manage associated tracking and follow up.
- Able to audit both internally and the suppliers QMS / PQCT/ EMS for compliance.
- Conduct investigations to determine causes of defects, make recommendations for corrective action. Determine systematic causes and make recommendations for corrective action.
- Coach & mentor others in corrective action methodologies.
- Monitor the C.A.R. system to ensure timely completion of outstanding items and report tracking monthly.
- Meet with management on results and monitoring of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and C.A.R. system.
- Can lead the team in development of Core Documents; P-Flow, PFMEA, PQCT, Work Instructions and Change Management process. Can deploy with proven effectiveness Core Documents.
- Extensive experience demonstrating use of core tools in P.A., C.A., and C.I activities.
- Able to construct DOE, ANOVA, GR&R analysis, and potentially reliability or predictability patterns.
- Lead project team through and manage Change Control.
- Influence to obtain buy in from stakeholders.
- Use facilitative / collaborative leadership methods to deploy department initiatives.
- Able to assist in deploying the 6 key procedures; Control of documents, Control of records, Internal audit, External Audits, Control of nonconforming product, Drive the corrective action and preventive actions.
- Understand the need for calibration. Able to select correct measurement tool for the job. Can complete GR&R studies. Interpret GR&R study. Can recommend corrective action for unacceptable GR&R.
- Documentation, including annual management review, change control, document control, deviations/ concessions, etc.
- Manage and oversee quality activities including CAR program, customer complaints, nonconformance reporting (e.g., QRQC, 8D, etc.), and internal audit program.
- Lead, coordinate and/or conduct internal and external QMS / ISO 9001 and EMS / 14001 audits, prepare for other annual global audits and business plan KPIs.
- Monitor and report on the department KPIs and other department performance indicators.
- Prepare presentations and reporting on QMS and EMS activities and C.A.R. system.
- Follow up with responsible managers on findings and corrective actions e.g. distribution and complaint records, training records, etc.
- Develop training plans, mentoring, and goals, as well as train, and provide technical support as needed.
- All standard daily management requirements such as, compliance with SPS Operation Standards, Safety Alerts, Quality Alerts, Occupational Health & Safety Act, Employment Standards Act, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 compliance.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Postsecondary education and or vocational program training or certification in a field that support's the requirements of this position.
- 5+ years in a Quality Role with proven experience in a Tier I, II, or III doing assembly, possibly coatings, where fabrication would be an extra asset.
- 3+ years in a Environmental Role would be an extra asset.
- Experience dealing directly with OEM related business and customers.
- Advanced computer experience and skill with MS Office and other databases.
- Must be able to work and communicate effectively with all levels within the organization from Executive to Production Associate.
- Lead auditor training in ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 standards is an asset
