What you'll do

  • Provide screening, assessments, diagnosis, intervention, and follow up with children (06 years old) that are referred to the Ey Qwal Speech and Language program.
  • Identify children's developmental speech and communication difficulties/disorders.
  • Provide individual treatment plans for each child assessed as well as followup assessments.
  • Provide direct 1:1 group speech and language programs for children needing services.
  • Supervise the speech and language assistants that will be working directly with children needing services.
Participate in screening fairs.

  • Provide parents, Centre staff, community members and other involved persons with take home materials and program plans to assist them in helping children meet agreed upon speech/ language goals.
  • Provide information sharing activities to communities regarding the importance of speech and language development.
  • Managing and maintaining files on current children and open caseload including updating records, and files.
  • Provide video support services to remote communities through Zoom/Teams
  • Other duties or responsibilities as assigned by your Supervisor, Director, or the CAO.

Reporting

  • Monthly reporting to Supervisor/ECE Director
  • Provides monthly Corporate Reporting Share point (CRSP) Reports to Supervisor

What you bring

Education

  • Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology.
  • Active Membership with the College of Speech and Hearing Health Professionals of BC

Experience

  • Two years of recent experience obtained within the last five years.
  • Advanced training and expertise in specialty area such as; speech language and or hearing (preferred)
  • Must be experienced in Augmentative Communication techniques.
  • Experience with grant funding is required.
  • Experience working with Jordans Principal funding requests an asset.
  • Experience working in a licensed Early Childhood Development Centre is required.

Skills, knowledge, and attributes

  • High professional and ethical standards with a commitment to the principles and values of the Indigenous people
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fastpaced team environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional education.
  • Previous experience working in an indigenous community is an asset.
  • Experience with public relation
