Description

The Opportunity:

The Cook Assistant is responsible for performing a variety of preparation duties in a traditional institutional kitchen in accordance with production schedules, standardized recipes and standards in accordance with accepted safety and food handling policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

Assists Cook in preparing food items in a timely fashion following production time schedules, prescribed recipes, portions, procedures and guidelines
Assists in meal service as required relating to beverage and meal service, plating of food, clearing and cleaning of dining rooms etc
May be required to assist with preparation of meal carts
Assists with preparation of food, supply orders, receiving and proper storage
Participates in food and equipment product evaluation
Assist in audits as directed and required
Maintains, cleans and sanitizes work area and all related equipment
May be required to assist in monitoring food usage and waste

Qualifications:

Certification in a nationally recognized food service safety program
Must be fluent in English, both orally and in writing
2 years of experience as a Cook Assistant, preferably in a Healthcare environment
Experience working with Juice dispenser, Steam tables, Chemical Dispenser, Knives, Ovens, Mixer
Ability to work under mínimal supervision and accomplish tasks in a fast paced environment following departmental guidelines
Demonstrated effective multitasking, and organizational skills
