Project Controller / Scheduler - Project Management Office

To support our continued growth, we are seeking a
Project Controller / Scheduler for our Ontario Region located in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).


The
Project Controller / Scheduler will work within the Project Management Office (PMO) to provide project controls and scheduling support to all our Business Groups across North America.

Your location will be aligned with one of our GTA offices. Periodic travel to other GTA and Waterloo Offices will be required to support projects. Hybrid work arrangements are part of GHD's operating model and will be considered for this role.


Responsibilities:


  • Championing Safety and Quality
  • Actively supporting all GHD Market Sectors
  • Participating in GHD's Project Management Community
  • Verifying that projects are managed in accordance with GHD policies and taking appropriate action in the event of deviations
  • Implementing coaching or mentoring on best practice project controls processes within the project team or with other project controls staff as required.
At the Project level, this role will be responsible for:

  • Setting up and managing fully resource loaded schedules and project controls tools based on a standard WBS structure for all projects that you work on
  • Proactively engaging with project team members to confirm deliverable progress and ensuring proactive management of budgets and timelines
  • Providing analysis of project controls metrics and making recommendations to the Project Management Team regarding financial, schedule, and quality implications and risks on the project
  • Identifying and making recommendations on change notices on projects
  • Working effectively with project administrators to ensure project budgets and invoices are accurate and coordinating with the PM to ensure accurate and timely invoices are issued to the client.

Skills, Competencies and Qualifications:


  • Minimum 10 years working within Project Controls discipline, 5 of which within a consulting engineering firm that provides multidisciplinary detailed design services
  • Hands on experience in the following areas a must:
  • Facilitating planning discussions with project team members for the development of engineering project schedules
  • Schedule development using both Primavera P6 and MS Project
  • Cost Control processes including deliverable progressing techniques such as rules of credit and design checklists
  • Change Management practices
  • Use of Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) including Earned Value (EV), CPI, SPI
  • Design Bid Build and Design Build projects in an Engineering Design environment
  • Experience in providing project controls/services for design delivery for mid to large scale, multidiscipline engineering design projects from design inception through to construction completion a must
  • Bachelor's (B.Sc.) degree or equivalent diploma from a recognized college or university considered an asset.
