What we are looking for:


As a Surgical System Technician you will provide support in the Outpatient Procedure Suites while working closely with all members of the inter-professional team.


Responsibilities will include:

  • Stocking and verification of consumable and reusable supplies in sterile storage area, procedure rooms and anaesthesia carts
  • Ordering and checking procedural case carts
  • Ordering and maintaining departmental general supplies and linen
  • Assisting the staff in preparation of procedure rooms between cases (turnover)
  • Assembly and preparation of specialized equipment and supplies for procedures and assist with the disassembly after procedures
  • Handling of sterile and high level disinfected supplies and equipment
  • Reprocessing of endoscopes and general surgical instruments
  • Operating AER, and maintaining reprocessing standards of endoscopes
  • Working and adhering to standards for work within a sterile environment

What you bring to the role:

  • Graduate of a Medical Device Reprocessing (MDR) program at a recognized College or MDRD certification with recent experience in a MDRD and appropriate recertification (every 5 years)
  • Recent experience in a MDRD setting is an asset
  • Endoscope reprocessing certificate, from a recognized endoscopy vendor, within the last 5 years is an asset
  • Recent Endoscope reprocessing experience is preferred
  • Membership with MDRAO is an asset
  • Demonstrated knowledge of surgical instrumentation, reprocessing equipment, and sterile technique
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within the interprofessional team
  • Excellent organizational skills with an ability to prioritize
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a fast paced environment requiring mínimal supervision
  • Ability to work weekday, evening and weekend day shifts
  • Experience with computers would be an asset
  • Demonstrated good attendance and performance record with the ability to maintain this same standard
  • Demonstrates a commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families etc) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with hospital related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as required.
