We are currently looking for a
Manager, Health & Wellness, to join our Health, Safety & Environment team in a permanent position.

Reporting to the Director, Health & Safety, you will provide strategic leadership and oversight in the development, implementation and administration of Health & Wellness programs and policies.


As a Manager, Health & Wellness:

  • You will assist with complex cases, and focus on early support, stay at work intervention, safe return to work and reduction of absenteeism.
  • You will directly support critical incident response, integrating traumainformed approaches.
  • You will use your expertise to enable continuous improvement to support employee engagement and incorporate best practices.
  • As the department lead, you will foster strong working relationships with business leaders, HR, Safety and the Emera Wellness team.
  • You will take a lead on pandemic and influenza related planning within the organization.
  • You will be accountable for metric management and reporting, including utilization, statistics, and satisfaction of wellness programs.
  • You will also review and manage various health contracts with external vendors.

What skills will make you successful?
You recognize yourself in most of the following competencies, and where possible possess the skills and experience listed below:

  • A post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety, or Health related field or an acceptable combination of education and/or experience.
  • Have a background in case management or leading teams who primary accountability is case management.
  • A demonstrated and passionate commitment to health and safety and understanding of psychological health and safety.
  • Experience developing strategy and leading multistakeholder projects and initiatives, with integrating a lens of Change Management.
  • Ability to work with a lens on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
  • Three to Five years progressive leadership experience.
  • Proficient working experience with policy and legislation in the areas of Human Rights, Privacy, Workers Compensation, Human Resources, and Occupational Health & Safety.
  • Experience in the development and implementation of health, wellness, and safety programs and policies.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with experience managing internal and external stakeholder relationships.
  • Strong business acumen, along with demonstrated problem solving and critical thinking skills are essential proven analytical skills to develop, evaluate, and implement recommendations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft suite of products including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.
