The York Region Preschool Speech and Language Program is administered by Oak Valley Health (OVH). We provide a coordinated community based speech and language service for children, birth to kindergarten entry.

The program engages in collaborative service delivery with other community agencies such as Early Intervention Services, the Children's Treatment Network and the York-Simcoe Autism Network.

These positions will include providing school based rehabilitation services for children in kindergarten through a partnership with the Children's Treatment Network.


The responsibilities will include:

Assessment and treatment of Kindergarten aged children in the areas of articulation, motor speech, stuttering and voice who
are eligible to receive school based rehabilitation services, funded through the Children's Treatment Network
Documenting in the Children Treatment Network's shared electronic record
Providing occasional evening virtual workshops to parents and caregivers in the areas of articulation, motor speech, and stuttering

Services are primarily provided within schools throughout York Region during the school year, however, service is also provided within a clinic or provided to the family virtually during the summer months.

Engaging in regular communication with parents and caregivers in order to provide home programming to the family
Preparing assessment, reassessment, progress updates and discharge reports
Making treatment decisions based on the assessment results
Implementing therapeutic techniques with individual clients
Supervising Communicative Disorders Assistant(s)
Counseling the child's caregivers and /or families
Taking an active role in performing and maintaining professional practice standards, guidelines and activities


POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology
Registered with the College of Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO)
Previous experience dealing with paediatric populations would be a definite asset
Ability to offer services in more than one language is highly preferred
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within the team
Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
Demonstrated good attendance record with the ability to maintain this same standard
Valid Driver's License

Demonstrates a commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with hospital related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as required.


Compensation:


Salary Band YRSLP01:

Ranges from $ $50.77 per hour
