    Description

    Position Summary:

    Reporting to the Project Manager, the Construction Surveyor/Civil Coordinator will provide field surveying support and project coordination services to the project management team and Head Office departments.

    Duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Field surveying using Trimble GPS and Total Station
  • Layout, control and reading/interpreting as-built drawings
  • Plan and conduct ground surveys designed to establish baselines, elevations and other geodetic measurements
  • Verify accuracy of survey data, including measurements and calculations conducted at site
  • Calculate heights, depts., relative positions, property lines and other characteristics of terrain
  • Prepare and maintain sketches, maps, data, plots, reports, records and documents related to surveys
  • Effectively interact with other key NAC jobsite personnel working in a team environment
  • Planning and scheduling
  • Contract drawings and specification interpretation
  • Document control
  • Coordinate the contractor's review of shop drawings and submittals to ensure compliance with contractual requirements
  • Liaise with design firms to assist in the coordination of constructability, questions (RFI process) and the coordination of additional work
  • Assist with project cost budgets and maintain programs to meet projected forecasts
  • Coordination and instruction of all subcontractors under the direction of the Project Manager and/or Superintendent
  • Participate in become knowledgeable with NAC'S Health & Safety policies and procedures, as per the roles and responsibilities within the HSE Manual.
  • The successful Candidate Will Possess:

  • Construction related formal education program – civil/structural/geotechnical degree/diploma or an equivalent combination of technical training & experience
  • A minimum of 2 years of construction surveying experience using Trimble GPS and Total Station and possess strong project coordination skills
  • Must be well versed in interpreting civil and structural drawings and proficient in layouts
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft software such as Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail, a high level of accuracy and organizational skills
  • The ability to work with minimum supervision
  • The ability to travel with NAC within Canada
  • The ability to work overtime, as required
  • Valid WHMIS, Health and Safety Awareness Training for Workers and Fall Arrest certificates are required
