Description

GFL Environmental is looking for a Facility Operator to join the growing team in Corunna, ON As a Facility Operator you will provide support to centrifuge processing with day-to-day operations.


Key Responsibilities:

Perform the set-up and take down of equipment required for the job
Assist with processing material from the job site
Verify each truck has the proper equipment to complete the job (i.e. hoses, fittings etc.)
Conduct pre-trip inspections of each vehicle (i.e. check fluid levels, oil, anti-freeze etc.)
Report any vehicle mechanical issues to the mechanic
Conduct yard checks
Perform general housekeeping on a daily basis
Other assignments as directed by the Operations Supervisor/Foreman


Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:

Minimum Grade 12 education, or equivalent
G license is required
An AZ or DZ license is a definite asset; be willing to pursue an AZ or DZ license, if required
1-3 years of work experience in a related field is required
Previous experience with the function, repair and maintenance of pumps and industrial equipment is an asset
Prior experience with the safe handling of hazardous waste and chemicals is an asset
Must be able to work independently as well as in a team setting
Proven track record of working safely
Good customer service skills with an ability to speak and write in English
Effective problem-solving skills
Current safety training (WHMIS, IEC Contractor Safety)
Basic knowledge of Internet Explorer, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and Outlook
Ability to understand safety regulations
Friendly, positive attitude with good customer service skills


Working Conditions:

Must be able to lift up to 50lbs
You will be exposed to environmental conditions such as hot, cold, dirty, dusty, wet or noisy; majority of work will be performed outside
You will be required to wear personal protective equipment which may include hard hats, eye protection, hearing protection, respirators, flame retardant clothing and safety shoes
