Catholic Social Services is currently recruiting for one, full time (40 hours per week), IAM (Infrastructure and Asset Management) Maintenance Worker II to join our office in Red Deer, AB.

Job Summary:


Reporting to the Manager, Infrastructure and Asset Management (IAM), the Maintenance Worker II performs general maintenance and repairs for Catholic Social Services (CSS) facilities.

This position completes general carpentry and maintenance work as required.

The Maintenance Worker also performs basic repairs and maintenance on mechanical operating systems, as well as on boilers, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems found within Agency buildings.


Job Duties:


  • Efficiently and safely performs maintenance tasks of a complex nature in areas of carpentry, plumbing, heating, cooling, etc. as assigned
  • Performs general maintenance and preventative maintenance program tasks including maintaining and cleaning of all plumbing equipment and general repairs
  • Inspects and troubleshoots equipment and systems (i.e. ventilation, boilers, etc.)
  • Coordinates processes from start to finish, including site visits, assessing the work to be done, determining materials needed, ordering the necessary material, picking up or arranging for delivery of materials, completing the job, and cleanup of work site
  • Completes requested inspection reports, information reports, job completion reports, billing information, and other required documentation in a timely manner
  • Acts as a resource person to other team members regarding means of avoiding maintenance problems or means of troubleshooting maintenance concerns prior to involvement of IAM employees
  • Recommends repairs and adjustments to manager as required; provides support on changes, trends, innovations in the field of trades in general, how they may be implemented in the Agency's maintenance function
  • Operates Agency vehicles in a safe and courteous manner as per Agency policies and procedures, ensuring regular service and repairs as needed
  • Follows health and safety protocols while adhering to Agency policies and procedures
  • Performs other related duties as required

Education and Qualifications:


  • Minimum of a Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent is required
  • 5th Class Power Engineering certificate is required
  • Diploma or related trade certificate from a recognized educational institution is considered an asset
  • Additional relevant certifications or designations considered an asset
  • Minimum of three (3) years' related general maintenance experience working in a mechanical environment is preferred
  • Basic knowledge, skill, and work experience in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, simple cement work, and residential or office repairs is preferred
  • Prior experience with routine maintenance operations in all plumbing areas such as sinks, showers, and tubs is preferred
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
  • Police Information Check including vulnerable sector search current within six (6) months
  • A Valid class 5 Driver's License
  • Driver's Abstract with less than six (6) demerit points current within one (1) year
