The Role:
The Rough Technician, Rough is responsible to assist in the structural framing of residential homes.
Key Responsibilities:
Health & Safety
- Demonstrate Safety First Culture at all times.
- Timely completion of Health and Safety forms to report any incidents (near miss, hazards, accidents, etc.).
- Installation and removal of safety rails.
- Opening up houses for trade access and closing all windows and locking houses at the end of each workday as required.
Quality
- Maintain cleanliness of interior and exterior of houses in process including removing debris and sweeping.
- Insulation prep and drywall prep to ABIC quality standards (first time quality expectation).
- Concrete repair work and pressure washing as required.
Customer Delivery
- Daily completion of tasks in accordance with set takt time.
Cost
- Structured problem solving and improvement.
DAILY STANDARD WORK
7:30am - 7:45am (Start of Shift Procedure): Morning team meeting to review red conditions and the plan for the day, toolbox talk (if applicable)
7:45am - 4:00pm (During the Shift): Complete standardized work, following lot sequence and within allotted takt time.
4:00pm - 4:30pm (End of Shift Procedure): Report daily metrics to Team Lead, prepare for following day
Breaks: 9:00am, 12:00pm (lunch), 2:00pm
You will bring:
- No formal education is required although any training related to construction skills would be an asset.
- Experience in residential building, construction, labour or related field
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Safety certification in Working at Heights, WHMIS, WSIB
- Experience dealing with tools and machinery.
- Good organizational skills with ability to get things done according to timelines.
- Good communication skills.
- Good customer service skills.
- Must have the ability to perform physically challenging work.
- Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Motivated to work hard and be a contributing team member
- Ability to adapt to a changing environment
- Demonstrated organization and time management skills with the ability to prioritize
