    Job Title: Field Services Co-Op Student

    Reporting to the Senior Mining Engineer or a nominated member of the Technical Services team, the Field Services Co-Op student is responsible for providing field operational support to the Technical Services team ensuring field work is conducted with appropriate quality processes and standards. This role is primarily field based, giving the student hands-on experience in various project spaces including surveying, sampling, environmental monitoring, wildlife tracking and exposure to technology and software.

    Responsibilities

    • Conducting field survey, QA/QC work and mapping activities
    • Collect field data and assist in communicating and reporting
    • Conduct water, soil, and drill hole sampling for lab processing
    • Provide support to operations, environmental and project teams
    • Collaborate with field crews while following safe work practices and company policies and procedures
    • Operate and maintain field equipment
    • Identify and report field hazards for immediate mitigation
    • Assist with preparation of Standard Operating Procedures for field operations
    • All other duties as reasonably assigned

    Ideal Candidate

    • Active enrolment in Applied Sciences or Technology based program
    • Practical understanding of the mining industry and mining processes
    • Must Possess Valid driver's license
    • Ability to operate a 4X4 equipped vehicle in varying terrain and weather conditions

    Experience/Skills

    • Proficient computer skills such as Microsoft Office Suite
    • Proven written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
    • Ability to adapt to new outdoor situations and work in varied terrain

    Work Location & Conditions

    This Co-Op opportunity will begin in May 2024 and run for a period of 4 months.

    This is a site-based camp job at Eskay Creek Mine site. This position involves working at a remote mine site on a 15 days on/13 days off rotation.

    The job is in a fast paced, and at times stressful working environment. Candidates will be expected to manage multiple competing priorities in a safe and efficient manner.

    The Eskay Creek Revitalization Project is located within the Coast Mountains of Northwestern British Columbia and Tahltan Territory. Ground transportation will be provided from local communities to the Eskay Creek Site facilities. For those applicants located elsewhere in western Canada, flight transportation from major urban centers will be provided to the Terrace or Smithers airports, from which shuttles will provide transportation to the Eskay Creek Camp facilities. Travel time and expenses are subject to Skeena's Travel Policy.

    There will be exposure to extreme temperatures in all seasons including working outdoors in snow, mud, ice, and water conditions, walking to and from different locations on uneven ground, prolonged periods of standing and physically handling/lifting/moving heavy objects.
