    Position Summary

    Reporting to the Fabrication Manager, this exciting opportunity will work within our state-of-the-art Saskatoon Fabrication Facility. The Drafting Technologist will be responsible for providing day-to-day support including regular communication with colleagues, to enhance maximum operational efficiency, while maintaining, establishing, and upholding drawing standards within predetermined guidelines.

    Duties & Responsibilities

  • To plan, in conjunction with the Fabrication Manager/Fabrication Division Manager and the team to execute projects in accordance with Corporate Policy
  • Build and maintain customer and supplier/vendor relationships to enhance competitiveness in the industry and promote good customer relationships
  • Model structural steel in Tekla to produce detailed drawings for fabrication & erection
  • Assist in preparing 3D models of mechanical & electrical systems using Auto Cad MEP to ensure constructability and eliminate interferences
  • Produce QA weld map drawings
  • Create piping spool drawings from 3D model for fabrication
  • Design, Model and prepare fabrication drawings for equipment skid packages and pipe racks
  • Export DSTV & DXF files for fabrication
  • Prepare installation drawing packages for use by field staff

  • Education & Skill Requirements

  • A college diploma in Mechanical or CAD CAM technology
  • Several years of experience in the pipe fabrication industry
  • Some experience in the construction industry may substitute for post-secondary education requirements.
  • Construction trade certification is beneficial
