Holloway Lodging Corporation, a subsidiary of Clarke Inc., a publicly traded company, is recruiting for a
Financial Analyst, on a
one year contract. Holloway is a real estate company that currently owns and operates hotels under internationally recognized brands including Travelodge, Super 8, Holiday Inn, DoubleTree by Hilton, Best Western, and Quality Inn.


The Financial Analyst will be an entrepreneurial and business-minded professional, focused on preparing, analyzing and distributing financial information to senior staff and Executive Management with a view to assisting in the monitoring and improvement of business and operational efficiencies.

This position is located in Halifax, Nova Scotia.


Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Overseeing the annual budget process for the company's hotel portfolio.
  • Competent in analyzing fluctuations between actual and budget and assessing variance explanations.
  • Distributing daily/weekly revenues, and monthly financial reports to the management team.
  • Prepare and review monthly and quarterly reports of operations.
  • Analyze the financial data from operations to advise hotel management in maintaining efficient operations.
  • Review hotel accountants' binders and related backup on a rotational basis.
  • Provide account analysis/backup to third party suppliers as required.
  • Maintain property tax status report and appeal deadline schedule.
  • Provide financial reports to taxing municipalities. Notify municipalities of updated contact information.
  • Prepare postmortem of threemonth rolling forecast to evaluate accuracy.
  • Work with the finance team to provide analytical support to the company in evaluating and reporting on key performance metrics.
  • Ensure accurate filing of information to maintain an orderly work environment and prompt access to information by authorized personnel.
  • Managing company's internal management reporting software (Insight/Spreadsheet Analyst/Spreadsheet Server) and all reports generated, including creating new reports as required.
  • Updating and analyzing hotel franchise agreements and calculating liquidated damages as required.
  • Perform ad hoc analyses and other projects in support of the business needs of the group.

Experience:

Financial Analysis: 3 years (preferred)
