DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


The incumbent will propose and lead new projects as determined by need and innovation and may be requested to perform other duties that support the team and the department.


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • A minimum of a four-year degree in physics, statistics or math, or engineering. Master's degree is preferred. A degree in education would be an asset.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience working in an academic environment as a tutor, academic coach or teacher; experience in adult or higher education is preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in one or more academic areas: physics, statistics and applied math or engineering.
  • Experience working with adult learners and speaking to large and small groups.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in developing presentations and digital learning resources.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based learning strategies, the science of learning, and metacognitive practices; student focused and able to foster self-directed learning and study strategies.
  • Ability to work well both independently, and in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of current teaching practices and learning strategy implementation.
  • Reliable travel between Oshawa and Whitby campuses is required.
