ACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT:


Reporting to the Manager, Operations Support and Control, the Motor Coach Operator Trainer is responsible for curriculum development, updates, and training delivery to the Motor Coach Operators.


MAJOR DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Maintain accredited Bus Operator Training Curriculum in compliance with the Motor Carrier Passenger Council of Canada
  • Adheres to company safety programs in compliance with Legislative requirements, Bus Operators Manual and the Collective Agreement
  • Provide inclass and practical training to all new HOS employees
  • Develops and provides instruction and training on various professional driver improvement courses
  • Keep up to date on new training trends, methods and techniques
  • Conduct MTO testing for driver license renewal as per Driver Certification Program.
  • Review onroad Bus Operator performance evaluations and provide remedial training if required
  • Review random Bus Operator safety audits and provide remedial training if required
  • Participate in the Bus Operator recruitment process
  • Provide "Train the Trainer" instructions to the Operation Supervisors
  • Participate as a member of the Motor Carrier Passenger Council of Canada to update the National Occupational Standards of the Professional Bus Operator and Bus Operator Instructor
  • Collaborate with the H&S Committee to resolve issues and to deliver new safety programs
  • Assist in collision investigations and evaluations
  • Provide ongoing driver evaluations as required.
  • Provide E-Log training for other ONTC departments
  • Provide training to Operator Labourers on all cleaning equipment and tools
  • Subject to calls after regular working hours
  • Frequent travel may be required throughout Northern Ontario.
  • Other duties as required

REQUIREMENTS:

- _ Grade 12 Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or General Educational Diploma (GED)_

  • 3 to 5 years' experience in Motor Coach operations
  • Certified trainer of Professional Instructor in Driver Education (PRIDE)
  • Ability to deliver bus operator training program curriculum (MCPCC Accredited)
  • MTO Signing Authority Certification
  • Maintain a class B or C licence with a Z endorsement
  • Knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Working knowledge of provincial HTA laws, AODA and MTO Hours of Service Regulations
  • Ability to develop, coach, and mentor others
  • Ability to interact cooperatively and collaboratively with others as a team, including those holding divergent and/or opposing views and goals

  • Bilingualism in both official languages will be considered an asset
