Turning Point Youth Services, a multi-faceted and dynamic agency Accredited with Children's Mental Health Ontario, is committed to responding pro-actively and individually to the life challenges facing each of our clients.

We are actively seeking qualified and dedicated individuals to join us as Youth Workers in both of our live-in treatment/congregate care programs for youth aged 12-18.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Incorporate in your work a strengths based relationship based philosophy of care and a belief in the resilience of youth.
Provide direct, client care and supervision to clients in the residential program.
Perform the duties of a Primary Worker for assigned clients.
Promote and integrate Youth and Family Engagement.
Promote an environment of inclusion that promotes equity and respects diversity.
Develop and deliver activities and therapeutic programs.
Ensure the safety and security of the residents in the facility.
Complete documentation and reports as required.
Participate in the daytoday operation of the facility.

Shift work is required - day and evening shifts, and every other weekend

QUALIFICATIONS:

University or College Degree/Diploma in Child and Youth Work, Social Work or equivalent.
At least one year of relevant work experience, preferably in a residential setting.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience with at risk adolescents and youth adults.
Appreciation of the importance of engaging youth and families from a strengthsbased relationshipbased approach.
Ability to exercise professionalism and sound judgement in conflictual and stressful situations.
Sensitivity to and ability to work with a diverse client and staff group.
Excellent communication, organization, administration and computer skills.
Valid "Understanding and Managing Aggressive Behaviour" certification.
Valid "First Aid/CPR" certification.
Completion of required suicide prevention and intervention training.
Full vaccination (minimum first 2 doses) against COVID19 by a vaccination series officially approved by Health Canada

These are collective bargaining unit positions within CUPE Local 3501 & 3501A.
