The Peel District School Board (PDSB) is a racially, culturally and linguistically diverse board that serves 155,000+ students and approximately 17,000 employees.

In PDSB, 87% of students are racialized, non-white, representing 162 different ethnic backgrounds. Students in Peel have 121 different first languages. Student diversity also exists in terms of gender and gender expression, sexuality and in terms of ability and faith.

The workforce consists of teachers, office staff, custodial staff, education assistants and professional staff. The workforce is largely unionized through PDSB's numerous affiliated bargaining agents.


As Supervisor, you will lead a team of IT professionals who support the IT needs of the organization in relation to the Board's HRMS systems.

You will also provide direction and leadership for the IT HRMS team.

You will provide ongoing customer support, problem solving, training and documentation and act as a liaison between Information Technology Department (LTSS) and all stakeholders of the Board.


Additionally, you will manage several projects by developing and supporting the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) - Vista and other sub-systems.

Specific responsibilities include prioritizing competing workloads;
troubleshooting complex technical issues; developing short and long-term

technical roadmaps; strategic planning; documenting and presenting operational

and architecture plans; meeting with stakeholders; resolving production

problems; staff supervision; liaison with software vendors; system design;
program change specification preparation; implementing software changes;
evaluation and recommendation of new technology

You will also be required to provide guidance and supervision to your staff.


QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

Degree or diploma in information technology or the combination of experience and related Information Technology educational qualifications (e

g:
computer programming, systems analyst)

Exceptional ability to plan, organize, prioritize, multitask and define technology roadmaps with key milestones and timelines.

Able to clearly and succinctly communicate complex ideas and make well-informed and well-reasoned recommendations to the senior management team.

Demonstrated ability to effectively and persistently troubleshoot complex technical problems in enterprise systems.

Demonstrated ability to lead a team, project or initiative in an Information technology environment.

Experience working with end users and business clients to understand and document complex requirements and communicate new technical features.

Experience in leading Information Technology projects.

Experience in software design and development, with knowledge of best practices related to system security.

Proven experience in quickly learning new software tools.

Ability to work independently in a time sensitive work environment.

Demonstrated experience working in a diverse community and/or work environment.


ASSETS:

Knowledge of SQL Server, SQL, TOAD, Microsoft.

NET
Previous experience as a Team Leader, Supervisor or Manager.

Knowledge of Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS), OnSIS and Parklane

Knowledge of Peel Absence Management (PAM), Future Org. and Laserfiche

Good understanding of Employment Standards, Health and Safety, Ministry of Education policies and timelines
