Barista (full time or part time)
Halo Cafe is a cool, vibrant independent coffee shop located in the heart of Mississauga.

We are looking for experienced baristas, who are able to follow instructions, have excellent attention to detail, and thrive when interacting with people, while providing a warm, friendly customer service.

Main responsibilities

• Prepare and serve beverages and food items
• Interact with customers by taking their orders, and answering questions
• Handle payments using a POS system (Touch Bistro)
• Maintain a clean cafe (following cleaning protocols)
• Take photos and post them on social media to promote the Halo brand

Previous Experience

• Previous experience using an espresso machine required

• Ability to learn quickly
• Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and request clarification when needed
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to excel independently and as a team player
• Ability to build relationships
• Previous experience using a Semi-Automatic Espresso Machine and creating microfoamed milk and latte art is required.

Physical Requirements

• Constant standing/walking
• Occasional stooping, kneeling or crawling
• Occasional pushing, pulling, lifting or carrying up to 40 lbs.
• Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs, ramps
• Constant computer/POS Register and bar equipment usage
• Frequent, continual, intermittent flexing or rotation of the wrist(s) and spine
• Constant reaching, turning, and performing precision work around bar area
• Constant receiving detailed information through oral communication
• Constant talking, expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word
• Occasional distinguishing, with a degree of accuracy the intensity/quality of flavours/scents
• Constant clarity of vision at near and/or far distances

To be considered for this position you will be required to prepare a beverage using a semi
- automatic espresso machine and participate in a role play mimicking an interaction with a customer.

If you have never used an espresso machine you will be requested to prepare/serve a food item
(a sandwich or a dessert), in addition to customer interaction role play.

Part-time hours: 20-40 per week

From $15.50 per hour
