The Opportunity:

The Arts Program Coordinator takes the lead on the successful planning and implementation of registered visual and performing arts programs at cultural spaces:

  • Visual arts classes: Art fundamentals, painting, drawing, printmaking, spray art and mixed media for all ages
  • Performing Arts classes: Performing arts fundamentals, acting, drama techniques and dancing
  • Presented Series

Accountabilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead the development and implementation of City of Airdrie visual and performing arts programs to residents of all ages to develop creative skills and lifelong learning
  • Assist with the recruitment, training and scheduling of qualified contractors, thirdparty organizations, speakers and Art Instructors to program visual and performing arts.
Develop and oversee on-boarding and ongoing training procedures related to:


  • Compliance to all relevant safety legislation and regulations
  • Job specific tasks and certifications
  • Oversight of the maintenance and repair of Performing & Visual Art spaces and program related equipment and supplies
  • Conduct outreach and develop and maintain effective working relationships with community groups, and arts organizations towards the delivery of communityengaged arts programming
  • Collaboration with team leader on the planning and execution of an annual budget, aligned with business plans
  • Train, guide, schedule and delegate tasks to full time and part time employees to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of Performing & Visual Arts program offerings
  • Assist in leading, hiring and facilitating onboarding of full time and part time Performing & Visual Arts employees
  • Anticipate and define issues, generate options and select solutions (internal changes or external adaptations) which align with service outcomes and objectives
  • Coach and empower team in a decisionmaking process that helps to achieve wins the best interest of the customer and the department
  • Conduct market segmentation to understand the audience needs for visual and performing arts.

You Bring:


  • Postsecondary degree in Fine Arts, Public Management, Business, or other related education required


  • Standard First Aid

  • Level C CPR and AED certificate is required
years of proven progressive responsibility for oversight and coordination of a performing arts venue or similar facility
years of demonstrated experience leading a team of employees, with proven ability to positively influence others, including the supervising, scheduling, hiring and training staff

  • Experience troubleshooting performing arts facility, equipment repair and maintenance
  • Experience in the development and management of performing & visual arts programming
  • Experience maintaining and documenting incident reports, maintenance schedules and other facility functions
  • Knowledge and experience with various course registration and theatre ticketing systems
  • Theatre lighting or audio technician experience would be considered an asset
  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Suite programs
  • Ability to work independently in both thought and action, in issue identification and problem solving
  • Highly selfmotivated and selfdirected

  • The ability to work effectively with a wide range of people and community groups
