Purpose:


The Customer Insights, Data and Analytics (CIDA) team at Scotiabank is at the forefront of the journey to transform the Bank into a data centric organization through impactful customer insights, innovative analytics, and well governed data.

One of the main areas of transformation is the way data is produced, consumed, and managed at an enterprise level to drive business value.

The aim is to provide a truly productized offering of re-usable data & data capabilities that can be delivered iteratively through a streamlined process and framework in order to meet the velocity that will allow data consumers to focus on delivering business value.

We are looking to build our delivery team with influencers, makers, creators and industry leaders who will drive us forward.


Reporting to the Senior Manager, Data Platform Management, and working with the Data Office, technology partners and platform users, the Manager, Data Platform & Change Management will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day execution of Data Platform Management processes and best practices, and the strategy for data platform users' engagement and communications.


Accountabilities:


  • Daytoday execution Data Platform Management processes
  • Partnering with platform users and project teams to streamline the execution of data projects on enterprise data platforms while factoring in a multitude of evolving constraints and ensuring that the selected platform will delivery on the project's desired business outcomes.
  • Support the integration of CIDA's Strategy and Platform Governance as an essential component in the Bank's culture by means of maturing the existing Customer Engagement and Service Management models.
  • Drive a consistent, focused approach to modernizing our data platforms and providing nextgen services to the organization, including evolving our existing technology stack to support CIDA's cloud strategy and creating a connected data ecosystem.
  • Work closely with enterprise data teams (data scientists, analysts, and data engineers) and other stakeholders to support their datarelated needs and ensure our data platforms product can drive real business outcomes.
  • Continuously assess and improve our data platforms to keep them up to date with industry best practices and emerging technologies, using knowledge of data technologies and data operations.
  • Communicate data platform updates and changes to relevant stakeholders, using excellent communication skills to effectively convey technical information, ensure transparency and understanding and address any questions or concerns.

Functional Competencies:


  • Ability to design and communicate effective business processes.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and spoken, including presentations/demos.
  • Ability to be an effective influencer on technology direction / an effective evangelist.
  • Experience with agile delivery frameworks.
  • Experience with the analytics & data project life cycle (e.g. ETL).
  • Experience with Collibra and data management principles.
  • Knowledge of big data technologies (Cloudera/Hortonworks, Cassandra, Spark, other).
  • Knowledge of software engineering best practices such as code reviews, testing frameworks, maintainability and readability would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL) would be an asset.
  • Experience in Cloud Data Solutions would be an asset.
  • Ability to solve ambiguous and typically novel problems that require the effort of several teams and organizational alignment.
  • Attention to details, high standards for quality.
  • Desire to learn, grow yourself and your team.
  • Passion for driving teams towards high performance and a deep pride in quality craftsmanship that delights users.
  • Writing and maintaining related documentation.
  • Bilingual in Spanish would be a strong asset.

Requirements & Qualifications:


  • Bachelor (equivalent or higher) degree in business, science or engineering disciplines
  • Ability to design and communicate effective business processes
